Dear Los Gatos High School students and parents,
I hope you are having a great year at school. My name is Luis Garcia and I, together with the coaching staff wanted to welcome you to the LGHS Girls Soccer Program. We also would like to share with you some important information to keep in mind now that we are getting close to the beginning of the season.
Tryouts: We want to make sure every single player that wants to tryout gets an opportunity. Every player will be given at least 5 days to tryout and then rosters will be picked from there. Due to the level of talent we have in our school and the amount of players that were a part of the program last season, we plan to have a Girls Varsity, JV and Freshman Team. Players will be picked on ability and that will be the only criteria. This is why it’s very important that every athlete interested in playing soccer, comes to tryout. Those who will be finishing with a different sport and can’t make it to tryouts the first week, please feel free to contact me via email or just come to the field one day and introduce yourself so I know who you are, what your situation is, and I will be happy to give you more details about when your tryout days will be.
Tryouts for all the girls teams will start on November 4 from 2:30 to 4, on the Baseball Field.
Strength and Conditioning Sessions: We do have the ability for players to get pre-season gym sessions with the schools expert Danielle Burks. For all athletes and twice a week. Last year this became a huge part of the program and we are excited to keep using it and get the most out of it.Parent Meeting: We will be holding a meeting but this year we will do it after tryouts. We will let you all know about the date and location during tryout week. With this we try to help parents and athletes get an answer to their questions based on the team the athlete is a part of, we will be able to give a specific answer to a specific question, keeping potential situations aside. We will also be able to introduce you to all the staff members of the girls program so you get to know more about all of us.
Commitment: There will be a level of professionalism and commitment that players will be required to show to be a part of the boys or girls program. Academics, respect, community service program, manners, team work and making good decisions on and off the field will be always demanded. Here are some other important dates:
- Tryouts will be Monday to Friday the weeks of November 4th and November 11th
- Normal training will begin the week of November 18th
- League play begins in January 2020
- Season for Varsity with CCS can go until the first week of March
- Holiday Breaks will be communicated, and every aspect of scheduling will be in team snap
I hope to see you all on November 4th at 2:30, Baseball Field
If there is anything else that you’d like to know before tryout starts, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to help.
