It’s official, the Cats are headed back to their 4th SCVAL Championship game in as many years. The #3 Wildcats traveled to #2 Menlo-Atherton for second-round playoff action. The heavily-favored Bears came in with 13-6 overall record, and two league wins vs Los Gatos this season. In their last meeting, one week ago, the home town Bears defeated LG 14-3.

This evening would be different.

After giving up the first goal of the game, the Cats would bounce back, outscoring the home team 5-3 through two quarters. The third quarter would prove to be the difference-maker, with Los Gatos outscoring Menlo-Atherton 3-0. Los Gatos would close out the victory after a fourth quarter surge, achieving their first win vs Menlo-Atherton since 2010.

Seven different Wildcats would record offensive stats this game, lead by Junior Attackman Matthew Breen (5 goals). Breen leads all goal scorer for the Cats in the playoffs with 12 goals in two games.

The defense played stellar lacrosse, led by Senior goaltender Michael Brine (22 saves). The defense held the high-scoring Bear shooters to only 7 goals. Long poles Ryan Fogerty, Levi Zamora, Jake Figeira, Jack Enriquez and Nick Gore created defensive nightmares for the home team.

The Wildcats move on to face #1 seed and SCVAL foe Palo Alto this Saturday, 5/12 at Saratoga High School. Game time is set for 1pm.
