The Wildcats opened the match with their most impressive quarter of the season, putting up 32 points in the opening frame and holding Mercy to 9. Senior Alexa Wong and freshman Morgan Burt got the scoring started with three-pointers, while junior Sabrina Belquist and sophomore Ashley Poshard combined for 18 in the quarter. In the second, sophomore Olivia Lo took charge of the offense, making 5 of 6 free throws to complement her layup for 7 points in the period. The Cats went into halftime with a 45-18 lead.
The Wildcats extended their lead in the third quarter with back-to-back layups from junior Sara Chiala and three-pointers from Lo (2 in the quarter) and sophomore Maddie Dewhirst.
Dewhirst hit another in the fourth to push the Cats over the 70-point mark for the first time this season.
Belquist earned all-tournament honors with a game-high 19 points, putting her at 62 points for the tournament. Lo contributed 18 and Poshard added 10.
The Cats enter league play on January 7th with a 7-4 record. They will face Wilcox at home.
