After starting the game strong and taking a 28-13 lead into halftime, the Wildcats struggled to find their groove in the second half, while the Mountain View Spartans mounted an impressive comeback that put them within 2 points with just over a minute left in the game. The Wildcats were unable to make their free throws to secure the victory, but senior Alexa Wong tracked down two rebounds and a loose ball in the last thirty seconds to maintain possession. The Cats held on for a 38-36 victory. The highlight in the second half was the defense of freshman Natalie Anthony on the inside, limiting the Spartans chances from close range.
The Wildcats improved their league record to 2-0 (9-4 overall) and are headed to Palo Alto on Friday night.
