The Wildcats had another tepid start but managed to hang with the visiting Falcons through the first quarter. To start the second, Saratoga made a run to push the lead to eight, but the Wildcats fought back and took it to halftime down only six: 27 to 21. In the last ninety seconds of the first half, sophomore Ashley Poshard elevated her intensity, which resulted in two buckets in the paint and three offensive rebounds.
The rest of the Cats matched Poshard’s intensity in the second half, putting up 34 points in the half and holding the Falcons to just 5 in the third quarter. Junior Sabrina Belquist led the Wildcat charge in the second half, tossing in 17 of her game-high 26, including six consecutive clutch free throws when the Falcons were looking to make a comeback in the fourth. Poshard continued her attacking in the second half, scoring 15 in the game.
With the win, the Wildcats get back to .500 in league play at 5-5 (12-10 overall), with just two games remaining. The Wildcats go on the road Friday to visit the Santa Clara Bruins.
